The Textron
Discover Dance Series

Students and seniors have the opportunity to discover the beauty and passion of dance through Festival Ballet Providence’s Discover Dance programs. This program enables school groups and senior citizens from retirement and nursing communities to experience ballet in a majestic theater in Providence.

Our dazzling production of The Nutcracker has been, for many Rhode Islanders, their first exposure to a live ballet performance and is one of their most memorable experiences. Other featured productions include The Firebird, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Esmeralda and A Thousand and One Nights. These productions are designed to cultivate an appreciation for and an understanding of dance.

Each program is introduced by FBP Artistic Director, Mihailo “Misha” Djuric, who describes the performance, opening the hearts and minds of those about to witness the magic of theater. “As Artistic Director of Festival Ballet Providence," says Misha, "I am very proud to offer these exciting performances. As a child in Eastern Europe, I was always mesmerized by the dance performances I saw. I hope you will bring a group to Discover Dance to be inspired as I was so long ago.”

"This will be my 18th year of seeing the Nutcracker and bringing students. My colleague from the Dawe School in Stoughton nows brings her students too. Every year my students can't wait to get to 5th grade to experience this as many of them probably may never be able to attend if it wasn't for the generosity of your sponsors. Thanks again."
