Alexandria Mitchell was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. There she studied at South Bay Ballet under the direction of Diane Lauridsen, Charles Maple, and Alicia Head. In 2007, Alexandria was a Grand Prize Finalist in The Spotlight Awards sponsored by the Dorothy Chandler Music Center as well as receiving The Daily Breeze Torrance Performing Arts Consortium “Making a Difference” Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts. She was a Level 1 Award winner at NFAA YoungArts Awards in 2008, and a 2009 United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts. She has attended summer programs under scholarship with American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Kaatsbaan International Dance Center and she was a trainee with Boston Ballet under the scholarship of Jack Rugheimer. Her Boston Ballet repertoire includes Mikko Nissinen’s The Nutcracker, George Balanchine’s Jewels, The Sleeping Beauty, and George Balanchine’s Tarantella. In 2009, she was an apprentice with The Royal Danish Ballet in their exchange program. This is Alexandria’s first season with Festival Ballet Providence.
