synopsis | review
For dance so near you can touch it, Festival Ballet Providence inaugurates a new, limited seating series of studio repertory performances offering audiences the opportunity to experience dance in an intimate setting in its purest form. Risers will allow excellent viewing, and curtains will create the feeling of a black box theater setting in our own Grand Studio.
Three separate repertory programs will feature works by established and emerging choreographers. These performances offer the chance to see thrilling, original dance, to meet the dancers and to mingle with the choreographers.
Performances take place in Festival Ballet Providence’s “Grand Studio” at the Festival Ballet Providence Center for Dance Education, 825 Hope Street, on the East Side of Providence. It is a wonderful opportunity for theater-goers to see where the sweaty hard work that goes into Festival Ballet Providence’s magical stage productions takes place.
There will be three separate programs in the months between the main-stage productions, in November, January and March. Each program will be performed on two consecutive Saturdays, occasionally with casting and program variations between the two Saturdays of each program.
