Spice up the Holiday Season with Clara’s High
Tea & Brunch and Uncle Drosselmeyer’s Nutcracker Christmas Party
December 14, 2003 at Federal Reserve
Providence, RI - Festival Ballet Providence uncorks new family holiday traditions Sunday, December 14th to make a memorable day sparkle! Clara’s High Tea & Brunch, and Uncle Drosselmeyer’s Nutcracker Christmas Party will both take place at Federal Reserve’s elegant dining room just three short blocks from Festival Ballet Providence’s annual production of The Nutcracker at PPAC.
Clara’s High Tea & Brunch is a brand new event making its debut this season. This elegant meal is complete with costumed characters from The Nutcracker, dozens of Nutcrackers adorning the holiday-themed dining room, tea sandwiches, brunch items, pastries, desserts, and teas from around the world. Partaking in the high tea makes the visit to the Kingdom of Sweets even more special. Tea and Brunch are served from 11 am to 12:30 pm, preceding the 1:00 performance of The Nutcracker. Tickets for Clara’s High Tea & Brunch are $25.00 per person including tax and tip.
Uncle Drosselmeyer’s Nutcracker Christmas Party returns after a highly successful first run in 2002, when revelers joined Clara’s Uncle in a holiday feast and a tradition of cracking nuts with a life-size Nutcracker Doll. The menu is set and tables awaiting their theater-bound guests for this scrumptious holiday feast, complete with roast Christmas turkey, baked ham, numerous side dishes and a Sugar Plum Assortment of Sweets. The meal is served from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The price is $25 per child and $50 per adult, including tax and gratuity.
The Nutcracker follows a young girl, Clara, whose gift of a Nutcracker doll from her beloved Uncle Drosselmeyer leads her from a joyous family Christmas party complete with dancing dolls and a tree that grows 30 feet in height, to a midnight battle pitting a battalion of life-size toy soldiers against gigantic mice lead by the Mouse Queen. Protected by her gallant Nutcracker, Clara survives the ordeal, finding her Nutcracker doll has been transformed into a human. He leads her through a snowstorm of dancing snowflakes to the delectable Kingdom of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier reign over a colorful troupe of dancers from round the world. They celebrate the victory over the Mouse Queen with brilliant dances that culminates in a grand finale.
