Festival Ballet Providence Summerdance Intensive 2003

Providence, RI - Festival Ballet Providence artistic director Mihailo Djuric announces open auditions for Festival Ballet Providence's Summerdance Intensive program Sunday January 26, 2003.

Festival Ballet's Summerdance Intensive is a comprehensive training program designed for serious dance students, with a challenging roster of classes, quality instruction, in a fun and supportive environment, running from July 7 to August 1, 2003. The intensive can be taken for 2 weeks, 3 weeks or for 4 weeks (during July 7 - August 1, 2003).

Intensive classes generally run from 9:45 am to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Classes include daily ballet technique class, followed by any of the following: pointe, variations, repertoire, character, jazz and modern. The intensive is open to students 12 years old and up, with a minimum of 1 year on pointe. There will be a placement class the first day of each session for new students to determine the class level, based on physical capabilities and training.

The international faculty will include: Mihailo Djuric (Faculty Chairman), Vera Kurmasheva, Tomislav Vokovic, Gleb Lyamenkoff, Paul Thrussell, Audrey Monahan, Ann Morsilli, Mary Ann Mayer, Heidi Henderson, and other guest instructors to be announced.

All classes take place in Festival Ballet Providence's three state-of-the-art sprung-floor studios, 825 Hope Street in historic Providence, Rhode Island. Chaperoned dormatory housing with transportation is available for out of state student with partial board. An audition fee of $15.00 is charged, with checks made payable to "Festival Ballet Providence".

The Summerdance Intensive audition takes place Sunday, January 26, 2003. Registration takes place beginning at 1:15 PM. The audition class begins at 2:00 PM.

Those auditioning are requested to arrive on time in order to fill out an audition form, and to bring the audition fee, a head shot and teacher's letter of recommendation. To audition by video, please call Festival Ballet Providence and request a Video Audition Packet. Upon acceptance to the program, formal registration must be completed and is due no later than April 15, 2003

Festival Ballet Providence Summer Workshops 2003

Summer Workshops: The SummerDance Workshop Program offers a comprehensive dance curriculum and is available in two non-residential sessions for students aged 3 to adults. The purpose is to enable dance students to continue their training during the summer months.

Classes are offered for two and a half weeks, June 16th to July 3rd, and for three weeks August 4th to August 22nd.

These ballet, pointe, character and jazz classes will be offered Monday through Friday at a variety of levels, each offered one to three times a week. Hours of the classes is between 3:30 and 7:30 pm. Registration fee is $25. Tuition amount depends on length of class and number of classes taken per week. Adult, creative movement and pre-ballet classes will also be offered during these sessions. Information and registration packets will be available February 15th. Festival Ballet Providence Theatre Arts Camp 2003

This is a three-week program for children 5-7 years old, meeting Tuesday and Thursdays from 9:30 to noon, August 5th to August 21st. Children embark on a magical journey to explore the many aspects of dance, music, and theater arts using sets, props and costumes they create, culminating in a short studio performance for family members. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee. The tuition is $155, with an additional $15 fee for materials. Dates and further information will be available February 15, 2003.
