Avenue of the Arts Redevelopment Fall 2006

Thank you in advance for your continued patronage and support of VMA.  With the redevelopment of Avenue of the Arts and the addition of the adjacent Renaissance Providence Hotel, a new gateway to the City will soon debut.  Please be assured that VMA will remain open and accessible. Entrance to VMA, Fall 2006

• The sidewalks in front of and around VMA are scheduled to be completed in September.
• There may be periodic street and sidewalk closures as the work on front of VMA nears completion and the Renaissance Providence Hotel continues its construction process. Francis Street is scheduled to remain closed to all vehicles and pedestrians through November 2006.

Parking for VMA, Fall 2006

• Parking maps are available from VMA.
• Patrons are encouraged to park in the Providence Place parking garages for a nominal fee. The garage provides the closest access to VMA. Current parking rates are $1 for the first three hours. No parking validation is required.
• Parking remains available on weeknights and weekends in the State of Rhode Island lots on Smith Street. From there, follow the white street signs to VMA.
• There is ADA parking just past Avenue of the Arts along Park Street.
• There is a vehicle drop-off point at the end of Avenue of the Arts and the Park Street entrance.
• On-street parking on Park Street is prohibited.
• The privately owned lots across from the entrance to VMA are no longer available for public parking.

Directions to VMA- 1 Avenue of the Arts, Providence
VMA is conveniently located near the Rhode Island State House and the Providence Place Mall. Use Exit 22C off Interstate 95 for the easiest directions to VMA. The exit will bring you directly to the Providence Place parking garages, as well as bring patrons to Park Street.

• From either direction, take Exit 22C. The exit puts you directly on Promenade Street. Follow Promenade Street to the end.
• The Providence Place Mall parking garage will be directly in front of you. Park in the garage or turn left onto Park Street.
• VMA is on the right, at the corner of Park Street and Avenue of the Arts.
• To continue to the State of Rhode Island parking lots, continue past VMA to the next traffic light. At the traffic light, turn right onto Smith Street and through the first traffic light. The parking lots are located behind the State House and across the street.
