Junior Company Auditions for the 2008/2009 season
Festival Ballet Providence chooses advanced students enrolled in full load of class from the Company’s Center for Dance Education to be eligible for the Junior Company. Young dancers aged 14 to 18 who are seriously considering a career in dance are encouraged to take part.
Requirements:
Junior Company members perform on their own right and with the Festival Ballet Providence professional company as needed during the season in the city’s premier theaters, the Providence Performing Arts Center and VMA Arts & Cultural Center. Rehearsals take place Wednesday and Friday evenings, and all day on Saturdays. These young dancers receive invaluable coaching and performing experience that is greatly beneficial to young dancers’ training.
Junior Company members train at the Festival Ballet Center for Dance Education, as part of the Core Ballet Program, from September to the School Culmination Performance in June. They may attend Company class during school vacations at no additional charge. They receive a 25% discount to FBPCDE summer workshops and summer intensive programs. Each member receives a subscription voucher for the company’s VMA season, and two tickets for each Festival Ballet Providence production.
Company members must follow the dress code and other guidelines as outlined in the FBPCDE Handbook. They are role models for younger students in the school and as such must behave in a professional manner, working to their fullest during class & rehearsals. Company members will be available for scheduled studio rehearsals and performances. They must maintain a "B" average or above in school.
