10 reasons why we loved performing Boundless Plotnikov

Boundless Plotnikov wrapped up yesterday, and before turning our attention to the three remaining programs in our season, we wanted to take a final look back at a beautiful weekend of dance, humor, and a few surprises!

1 – Contemporary choreography is always exciting.

There wasn’t a tutu in sight.

2 – A world premiere is great. A world premiere COMEDY is a blast!

3 – SO MUCH FABRIC!

How none of it ripped in the dark and treacherous backstage at The Vets is beyond us.

4 – Being a giant dried Orchid blossom is…a unique responsibility.

Moving in slow-motion while the cast is going full-throttle around you is an added bonus.

5: Getting credit for an ENTIRE WEEKEND by the Providence Journal.

Hey, it WAS a beautiful weekend, wasn’t it? You’re welcome.

Ok, the ProJo did change it after a few days.

6 – DRAMA.

Need we say more?

7 – Performing at The Vets.

In one of the most beautiful parts of Providence!

8 – Badass maestro Francisco Noya.

An awesome addition to an awesome new ballet.

9 – Viktor Plotnikov.

The fact that three ballets – ranging from intense drama, to witty humor, to mysterious beauty – came from the brain of a single person is a true testament to Viktor’s “boundless” creative ability. The fact that he’s a really cool guy is an added bonus.

10 – Discovering that Michelle Kwan was in the audience.

And she knows what “art in motion” is!

THANK YOU!

We are immensely proud of the FBP company and artistic staff for their hard work on Boundless Plotnikov. And we are thankful to our devoted audience for your enthusiastic support and admiration throughout the process.

A heartfelt thank you to all.

We’ll see you in two weeks for Up Close on Hope!

A breathtaking counter-balance and descent

Watch as Vilia Putrius is lowered to the floor by partner Mindaugas Bauzys in an extraordinary moment from Viktor Plotnikov’s “Orchis.”

The counter-balanced descent (which takes much longer than this animation depicts) elicited gasps and applause from the audience last season.
